Troubled Youth :: Essays Papers
Troubled Youth I started the first day very fearless, yet reserved. I knew had to face this challenge head on. At the time I was working a regular job during the night for about eight hours a day. The accomplishment was different though; it happened shortly after receiving the job. I was just beginning community service at the same time at a local elementary school as a helper to the janitors. The crime was petty but it inhibited fifty hours of free service to the local education center. I chose this place because of its relative ease, and it was also an area I could easily get to and from. Upon first arrival I met the principal of the school. He would be my superior, but my first impression explained to me what he was all about. He was a fairly easy going man, and was straightforward when he needed to be. I found this to be true with many people that I have met who are of his same stature. He was about the size of the students attending. The irony of this anomaly was the vehicle he drove, a station wagon raised with massive tires and even more exemplified by the large lights strewn above the windshield of the car. I would see this machine on a regular basis and always think, â€Å"How in the hell does he get in?†The head janitor was very tall, and not very muscular. He was an amazingly friendly man, and I could tell he was passionate about his job, but was very restrained socially because of the people he was forced to communicate with on a daily basis. There were two other janitors, underlings of the head janitor. One was a short black man, he had been originally from Kenya, his English was horrible but he was a very life loving man. When he would sporadically speak, it was mainly just to mock his associate janitor. The associate of the Kenyan man was a very enthralling person. Everybody around me scoffed at him, to his face and behind his back. This really didn’t matter to him due to the fact that he was mentally unstable. He dragged his feet while walking and could barely hold his up in any given situation. His speech was often times so slurred that he would say something everyone in the room would look at him, and then ignore what had just happened and go back to their business.

Relationships between Indians and English at Jamestown Essay
Before the English founded Jamestown in 1607, the Pamunkey Americans who lived in the Chesapeake Bay area were aware of the other culture overseas (Kupperman, 1). The Americans had watched the establishment and eventual abandonment of the Roanoke settlement some twenty years before Jamestown and gained knowledge of English society (1). European ships frequented the bay for trade. A Pamunkey man, who the Spaniards took back to Spain and baptized as Don Luà s de Velasco, returned to his homeland in 1571 and further informed the Pamunkeys (1). Though the English would become dominant, the Native Americans might have been the more erudite of the two cultures to clash. Europeans sent reports home from America and told of complex native civilizations and formidable tribes (Kupperman, 1). In time, the English came to assume that Americans were â€Å"accomplished people living in highly developed societies†and to rely their crops and supplies when needed (1). If one successful population could thrive on that land, then another could surely overtake it ultimately (2). The Pamunkeys had their own sights for a newly established Jamestown (Kupperman, 1). They understood the typical European behaviors and manipulated them to exert control (1). With over thirty tribes under Pamunkey leader Powhatan’s command, the natives kept the mostly inept English apprehensive and directed the trading of goods (1). The colonists traded for and exported furs and gold to Europe (1). For the Americans, metal tools, copper ornaments, glass beads and other Europeans products benefited them greatly in exchange (1). The Pamunkeys and their allies had power over the trade westward inland, therefore expanding their influence (2). True to form, the English settlers were incompetent with coping in the New World and became dependant to the natives for support (Kupperman, 2). As the two sides learnt more of each other as they mingled, mutual relationships formed (2). The English wasn’t completely destitute, however, and recuperated under Captain John Smith’s leadership (2). The Americans and the English became relatively amicable, but after Smith left the colony, the relations deteriorated and conflicts rebounded (2). Meanwhile, retrogression in Europe drove more desperate people to seek life elsewhere, even in a foreign land. Despite that the battle-mottled situation in Jamestown, the English colony grew stronger, invested successfully in tobacco exportation, and ceased to count on Native Americans for help (Kupperman, 2). Instead of being exploited, the balance of power shifted and became more advantageous for the English. Ukrainian Politics Don t Do Nothing Help Ukraine Out Of...
I believe that Ukrainian politics don’t do anything to help Ukraine get out of problems than are now in Ukraine. As for U.S they try to help, but it is enough. Politics were always a big problem in Ukraine. Many politicians were coming and leaving because they could do good work. It is hard to be a politician when the country is at a war, but every politician must first thing about the country and people, and after all about themselves. Also, Ukrainian people were always fighting for their freedom. Ukraine had many revolutions and hard times when people were dying. Now in Ukraine there are hard times and Ukrainian politics don’t do anything to get them better. Two years ago Ukraine had a huge revolution that changed the country†¦show more content†¦After old government stopped working, and a new came, the war stared. Me and my family decided to move to America, I didn’t want leave Ukraine, because I had a good life in Ukraine. This war changed many peop le’s lives and my also. I was voting for a new government, and I thought that they would be better them old ones, but they were the same. Ukraine is a big country with a big history. My people knew what it is like to fight for freedom and land. Ukrainian politics, never valued people. They just think about themselves, and about their money, houses, and cars. People suffered a lot to live peaceful life, but it wasn’t than easy. The war destroys not only people’s life, but it also destroys the country. The country is going down. Ukraine had problems with money, the economy is low. Ukrainian government tries to get money from other countries, but how will Ukraine give back the money. Ukraine is in bad condition, and Ukrainian politics don’t do anything to help Ukraine. One famous Ukrainian singer wrote a song about Ukraine. He said in his song â€Å"Exposed, burned, indifference cut down field Among darkness and hunger, people dying for the sake of the black gold†U.S was always a supportive friend. America helps Ukraine as much as it can. Americans didn’t know a lot about Ukraine before the war, but now they know. Now Americans know that Russians are bad. Obama tries to help Ukraine with different thinks. The statistics of my research are based on the results of
